WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.25.8.12: What's New?

WhatsApp has released a new beta update for Android, introducing an exciting feature—motion photos! This feature is still in development, but it will allow users to share motion photos in individual chats, group chats, and channels once fully rolled out.

  What Are Motion Photos?

Motion photos are a special type of image that capture a few seconds of movement and sound before and after the picture is taken. Unlike regular photos, they add a short video clip, making the captured moment feel more lively and realistic.

This feature is already popular on various smartphones:

  1. Samsung Galaxy  calls it "Motion Photo."
  2. Google Pixel  refers to it as "Top Shot" or "Motion Photos."
  3. iPhones  have a similar feature called "Live Photos."

How Will This Work on WhatsApp?

Once the feature is available, users will see a new button when selecting a photo to send. This button will allow them to choose between sending a still image or the motion photo version. This added flexibility ensures users can share photos in a way that best fits the moment.

The feature will work across  individual chats, group chats, and channels , making it easier to share animated memories with friends, family, or a wider audience.

  When Will It Be Available?

Currently, this feature is  under development  and not yet available for beta testers. However, it is expected to roll out in a future update. Stay tuned for more updates as WhatsApp continues to improve the media-sharing experience!
